“As a 42-year old new mum I began to experience night sweats, sleeplessness and mood changes. Even though I’m a doctor specialising in women’s health, it was difficult recognise that I was actually in early menopause. Getting onto effective treatment transformed my life for the better.
This experience compelled me to learn all I could about menopause and I began to treat other menopausal women. In my experience, giving women the right information empowers them to make good health choices, and they get better.
Menopause is a normal life-stage, not something to be dreaded or ashamed of. We should celebrate the wisdom, confidence and insight we’ve gained. Healthwise, we also need to reassess what worked for us before and make new choices that will serve us better moving forward. And we absolutely don’t have to endure dreadful menopause symptoms!”
