THE CONSULTATION

WellFemme’s secure online video-consultation service allows you to meet your doctor “face to face”. Our comprehensive consultations include a thorough assessment of your symptoms, medical history, medications, lifestyle and social factors. Depending on your needs and preferences the consultation can include:

  • Menopause information
  • Lifestyle recommendations
  • Treatment discussions
  • Prescribing of medications
  • Referral for tests or specialist review
  • Communication with other healthcare providers

Afterwards you will receive a detailed medical report with treatment recommendations which you may choose to discuss with your usual GP before starting any treatment.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

No. WellFemme’s menopause specialists are GP’s with a passion for helping women in midlife. They devote a large proportion of their practice to this area, gaining additional experience and skills along the way. WellFemme clients therefore benefit from both their specialised knowledge and their accessibility… no referral required!

CAN’T MY GP TREAT MY MENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS?

In most cases the answer is overwhelming YES. Our WellFemme menopause specialists are GP’s too, with additional training and experience in dealing with menopause-related issues. If you can visit a great GP who is confident in managing your menopausal symptoms then that is the very best solution. Unfortunately, not all women have a regular GP or can easily travel to visit one, or have a GP who is comfortable treating menopausal symptoms; helping these women is what WellFemme is all about.

IS THERE A MEDICARE REBATE?

Yes! There are a range of Medicare rebates for reproductive and sexual health services (like WellFemme) delivered by Telehealth. Click here for more information about our services and fees. Note that we do not bulk-bill so you will still pay a gap fee.

You’ll be sent a link to complete a Patient Intake Form on the Friday before your initial long assessment. If you provide your Medicare card details on the form we can process a Medicare rebate for you after your appointment. The money will be deposited into your Medicare-registered bank account in the week afterwards.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

We offer several types of service levels, with discounts available for concession and pension card holders; click here for details. There are Medicare rebates for Medicare card holders.

Consultations fees are offset by other savings in time and money:

  • No travel requirement (which could be hundreds of kilometres in some cases);
  • No GP appointment to obtain a referral;
  • No ongoing costs for expensive, unproven treatments, and
  • A specialised menopause service when and wherever you need it.

 

WHAT SERVICES ARE INCLUDED?

Our comprehensive initial consultations include:

  • An extensive medical and lifestyle history;
  • Assessment of peri/menopause related symptoms;
  • Discussion of medical treatment options;
  • Prescriptions if needed;
  • Pathology/ radiology referrals as needed, and
  • A comprehensive written report for clients to discuss with their GP.

CAN I SEE A DOCTOR IN PERSON?

You may be able to visit one of our WellFemme menopause doctors in person if you live near one of their clinic locations.

WHY MUST I PAY A DEPOSIT AT THE TIME OF BOOKING?

Our doctors allocate large amounts of time to your appointments, and often have long wait lists. Unfortunately, patients who have not paid upfront are less likely to attend or cancel well in advance, in which case the doctor doesn’t get paid.
