Menopause Nurse Consultations
You may not think you’re in need of treatment or ready for a “full” consultation with one of our doctors, but when it comes to healthy ageing everyone benefits from being well informed and prepared! If you want information about perimenopause and menopause that is personalised to your situation, then a nurse consultation is perfect for you.
Discuss your particular symptoms, issues and concerns about the menopausal transition. Find out what menopausal stage you’re in, and what this means for your current and future health and wellbeing. Our nurse can also discuss lifestyle modifications and the broad range of potential treatment options with you (in general terms), which may help you decide whether to see one of our doctors for a treatment plan, however be aware that nurses cannot currently prescribe medication.

Coaching may focus on areas such as:

We can also support:
- Goal setting and accountability
- Symptom management for chronic conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid issues and diabetes.

Exercise Physiology around Menopause
Exercise Physiologists are university-trained allied health professionals who specialise in using movement as medicine.
During menopause, exercise is not simply about “staying active.” When prescribed correctly it can help to:
- Improve cardiovascular health and reduce long-term heart disease risk
- Support bone density and reduce osteoporosis risk
- Maintain and build muscle mass to counter age-related muscle loss
- Improve insulin sensitivity and metabolic health
- Reduce fatigue and improve energy levels
- Support mood and nervous system regulation
- Improve pelvic floor function and continence
- Help manage body composition changes that often occur during menopause
In most cases no Medicare rebate is applicable, unless you have a Chronic Condition Management Plan from a GP.

FAQ's
Have questions? Perhaps these might help…
A nurse appointment is ideal for general menopause and midlife education, counselling, lifestyle coaching, emotional well-being support, and general guidance about menopause management.
An Exercise Physiologist is a great place to start if you want a personalised assessment, management plan and support specifically for musculoskeletal symptoms.
A health Coach is perfect for those who have health or fitness goals but don’t know where to start, or perhaps need some regular encouragement and accountability to stay motivated.
A doctor appointment is more suitable if you want a formal treatment plan, prescriptions, or medical investigations such as blood tests or imaging.
If you are not sure what type of assistance you need, contact the WellFemme team for advice on the best pathway.
No referral is required to book an appointment with a WellFemme nurse or allied health practitioner. If you do have a GP Care Plan that includes Exercise Physiology however, send through your GP’s referral if you’d like to claim Medicare rebates.
