A Reflection on WellFemme’s First Year…

What a year it’s been for WellFemme! 2019 was the year that I finally made my dream of an accessible online menopause clinic a reality. Much of the hard work actually took place in 2018, but by February 2019 I had started doing menopause consultations with women online and WellFemme was ready to launch.

Since then I’ve had the pleasure of helping many women work through their menopausal issues via online consultations or live menopause seminars. The feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Some notable achievements in 2019 were:

  • Receiving a Besins Healthcare funding grant to help more women in regional, rural and remote communities access menopause care;
  • Delivering free menopause seminars to around 250 women in regional NSW towns in July;
  • A presentation at Dubbo’s free Women’s Health Week menopause event on 3rd September;
  • Being awarded the poster prize at 2019 Australasian Menopause Congress in Hobart; and
  • Developing an online presence to keep women informed about menopause related issues through the WellFemme Blog, Facebook page, YouTube and Instagram.

I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved so far with WellFemme, but this is just the beginning. Internet technology can help thousands of women with better access to medical care and information. Feedback from the women attending my menopause seminars has guided some new developments, so in 2020 you’ll be able to:

  • View monthly Facebook live menopause workshops, with opportunities to post questions and view or share the sessions afterwards;
  • Arrange free interactive webinars for small groups of women in your community;
  • Attend live menopause seminars (locations yet to be decided, so write to me if your town needs one!);
  • And of course, you’ll always be able to book a personal Telehealth menopause consultation from the comfort of your own home.

Keep watching WellFemme’s Facebook page for more details about these developments. I’ll be counting on your feedback to plan timings, topics and locations for these sessions.

Christmas is a season to count blessings, and I do feel truly blessed. I have the education and opportunity to help potentially thousands of women who are struggling with debilitating menopausal symptoms. Thank you to all my “early adopters” who embraced Telehealth as a viable medical treatment option and trusted me to be their guide on a very personal journey. I hope the word will gradually spread so that more women in rural and remote areas will soon know that help is available.

As you reflect on 2019 my wish is that you find much to remember with joy and gratitude, and personal growth through its many challenges and hardships.

Love and best wishes to you and yours for a peaceful holiday season and a wonderful year in 2020.

Dr Kelly Teagle
